TENNIS

THE Christmas round robin on Saturday was a fantastic family afternoon with players from both Proserpine and Whitsunday playing wonderful tennis.

The event was a great show of sportsmanship among competitors and a number of special presentations followed the completion of the round robin.

Monday afternoon fixtures played their last round of the year this week with some great tennis to finish off the year.

Tuesday morning cardio and Tuesday evening social tennis were well attended, with some stand-out performances coming from Lesley Nolan and Rick Galea.

Wednesday night cardio was a great workout for players and Thursday evening social was a laid back affair with one court playing doubles while the other court enjoyed American doubles.

Ryan Cheetham and Robert Southern in the doubles and Laura Veal had a strong week, taking out the coaching pupil of the week award.

15-year-old student Trent Murray has been doing work experience with Jenny and Jamie Kirkman this week with the talented youngster helping out with a variety of classes.

Trent is a junior player at the club and trains and plays on Wednesday afternoons.

He is also a member of the high-performance team and has thoroughly enjoyed his time learning more about what it takes to be a professional tennis coach.
