AN UNBEATEN triple century from captain Michael Clarke, 150 not out from Mike Hussey and a knock of 134 from Ricky Ponting have Australia in a commanding position on day three of the second test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Their combined efforts allowed the hosts to declare a first innings on 4/659 after Hussey reached the 150 mark.

But Clarke was the star of the show, rewriting the record books as he went past 300 to finish on 329 not out. He now stands as the fourth-highest scorer in Australian test history.

Clarke reached the milestone in style, hitting bowler Ishant Sharma for four to take him to 303 not out. The 303 came off 432 balls, featuring 37 boundaries and a six.

Clarke also broke the record for the highest individual score at the SCG. Englishman Reginald Foster set the mark back in 1903 with 287.

Clarke's unbeaten knock was also the highest in the history of test matches between Australia and India. It surpasses the 281 hit by VVS Laxman in Kolkata in March, 2001.

Hussey's ton came off the bowling of Sehwag, nudging a single to reach the mark. His knock featured 11 fours and one six off 188 deliveries.

India have had mixed fortunes at the start of their second innings.

Gautam Gambhir has a half-century to his name.

But Virender Sehwag has been given his marching orders. He was caught off the bowling of Ben Hilfenhaus for four.

Rahul Dravid is also back in the hut. This time clean-bowled by Hilfenhaus for 29.

India are 2/105 after 33 overs of their second innings.

Lineups:
