DETAILS of a married Toowoomba woman's affair with a well-travelled Italian will be aired in public this weekend.
Margaret Sullivan's husband Darby has accepted the love that exists between his wife and her recently purchased 1969 Fiat 500 Bambino, affectionately known as Sydney.
A photographic travel journal has enlightened Mrs Sullivan to Sydney's tales of adventure in far flung corners of the globe.
Australian adventurers Lang and Bev Kidby drove the little red wagon 35,000km around the globe between May and September 2007.
Mrs Sullivan said she had been in love with Sydney since she saw him at a motor show in Brisbane shortly after his arrival back in Australia.
"I just wanted one," she said.
"Wherever you go people just go 'ahhhh, look at it'."
She is bound to hear plenty more gasps of admiration when her car goes on display at Glenvale Hockey Club grounds alongside more than 400 classic cars and trucks for the 14th annual David Hack Classic Meet. "The Hack is going to be my first big meet," Mrs Sullivan said.
Patrons will also be able to view about 30 classic war birds as the Zuccolli collection and other visiting aircraft go on display a short distance away at Toowoomba Airport.
The event will be held from 8am until 3pm on Sunday.
A free bus will be operating between the venues or patrons will be able to travel by helicopter for $30 each way.
Admission is $10 for adults and free for children under 12, with proceeds to be donated to charities including the Leukaemia Foundation and Blue Care.
