Only one drink driver caught

WHITSUNDAY Police conducted 269 random breath tests over a week up until Tuesday morning with only one person found to be driving over the limit.

On Tuesday, October 30 at 9pm, police intercepted a 48-year-old New South Wales man who recorded an alcohol level of 0.117. He is to appear in the Proserpine Magistrates court at a later date.

Acting Senior Sergeant Barry Haran was pleased that no locals were caught and said that it seemed their message had got across judging from this week's results.

"I can't remember a week where we have had only the one drink driver and he was not a local. It's fantastic to see and I only hope it continues."
