PREPARATIONS are already underway for Proserpine State High School's 50 year anniversary celebrations in May next year.

First opening in May 1963, the school now has about 1000 staff and students, and will celebrate its half century with an event on Saturday May 4, 2013.

The afternoon will include tours of the school, a showcase of current teaching and learning activities, displays of memorabilia, music by the school students, and a barbeque for all guests.

The committee is expecting plenty of interest from past and present students and staff and is producing a special magazine highlighting the school's 50 year history.

Anyone in the community who has memorabilia which could be used in the magazine or for displays on the day is asked to help out by loaning their items to the school. This could include photos, newspaper clippings, old uniforms, and textbooks, all of which can be dropped to the school office between 8am and 4pm, ensuring they are clearly labelled for a safe return. Items kindly donated or loaned are requested by July 20, 2012 and anyone wanting more information please can contact Carol Davis on 4945 0115 or via email at
