QUEENSLAND Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney took a whirlwind trip to Gladstone on Wednesday to inspect progress on the $20 billion Queensland Curtis LNG project on Curtis Island.

The Minister for State Development and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning said he was impressed by the QGC site on Curtis Island, and construction developments were extraordinary.

"An enormous amount of jobs have been generated; it will have long-term benefits for state and country," he said.

When asked about ABC's Four Corners investigation into rushed environmental approvals for coal seam gas projects, Mr Seeney said he wasn't concerned.

"We're dealing with the actuality of the industry now," he said.

"Our job is to make sure that the industry can continue to develop and continue to provide thousands of jobs here in Gladstone and do that in a responsible way.

"Those issues are about what happened three or four years ago. What we have to do now is manage the industry.

"The coal seam gas Industry has developed very quickly. Four years is a long time; we want to make sure we're doing it right."

Mr Seeney, whose Callide electorate is in central Queensland, also met with Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Gail Sellers to discuss growth pressures from industry development. Read more here.
