A SCANDALOUS "panty ripping" scene which left Nicole Kidman covered in bruises is testament to her dedication, Paperboy co-star John Cusack revealed on the weekend.

In the much anticipated film, Kidman was required to film bedroom scenes with "a certain amount of intensity" and according to Cusack, her efforts left her "black and blue".

He told the Hollywood Reporter, Kidman "never took a backwards step" when the pair shot rough sex scenes on day one of filming and even though he was afraid he was hurting her, she was "more fearless than me".

He said when she turned up to work on day two with bruises all over her legs he told her "You crazy b**** - go put some makeup on your legs!"

According to Perth Now, Kidman had to fight for the role, which up until the budget ran over, had been reserved for Modern Family's Sofia Vergara.
