Splendour is a sell out

Jack White headlines the 2012 Splendour in the Grass.

SPLENDOUR in the Grass tickets are once again some of the hottest in the country.

The event sold out in 43 minutes this morning, after tickets officially went on sale at 9am through Moshtix.

The steadily growing festival was known for selling out quickly up until last year, when tickets took several weeks to sell out.

Back in Byron Bay after two years at Woodford on the Sunshine Coast, the festival's stellar 2012 line-up, including Jack White, Smashing Pumpkins, Bloc Party and The Shins, was clearly popular with punters.

In less than half an hour camping tickets and single-day Saturday tickets had already sold out.

By 9.35am only single-day tickets for Friday and Sunday were left.

Five minutes later only Friday single-day event tickets remained, and those were snapped up within another five minutes.

The Moshtix website did not appear to suffer from overload or technical issues which have caused strife in past years.

Splendour organisers have even more reason to celebrate after the festival's new home at the North Byron Parklands was finally approved by the NSW Planning and Assessment Commission on Tuesday.

The three-day event will be held at the 259ha site at Yelgun, north of Byron Bay, for at least the next five years (2017) with an approved capacity of 35,000 punters.

Splendour in the Grass plays Belongil Fields, near Byron Bay, July 27 to 29.
