JEAN Kittson has performed alongside Delta Goodrem, has been a regular guest on Good News Week and The Einstein Factor and in July will be a guest speaker at the 2009 Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival.

This year marks the sixth year of the Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival.

Organisers are preparing to wow the young people of Mackay by bringing a troupe of literary and creative talent to the region.

Festival co-ordinator Ellen Reiner said the festival was destined to be a great one.

There would be an outstanding line-up of presenters for the event from July 15 to 18.

“Whitsunday Voices is the biggest literary festival in North Queensland, attracting some 6000 students from afar, including western Queensland, as far north as Bowen and as far south as Melbourne.”

She said big name presenters would include the hugely-popular John Marsden; the outstanding-successful Emily Rodda; artist and illustrator Matt Ottley; and hilarious Australian poet Steven Herrick. Ms Reiner said one of the highlights would be the Mackay Skin Clinic Literary Dinner on Friday, July 17, from 7pm.

It is open to the public.

“The literary dinner will be the first paid and public event staged at the new Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre and will feature the fabulous Jean Kittson as guest speaker.

“Not only is Jean Kittson one of Australia's best known and most popular comedians, she is also a successful writer, actor and radio presenter and is widely known for her lively comedy debates in the Great Debate Series.”

Tickets are on sale now at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.
