Island caretaker arrives

NEW caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef, Ben Southall, officially started work yesterday.

Best Job in the World winner Ben Southall and his girlfriend Breanna Watkins arrive at the Blue Pearl House on Hamilton Island which will be their home for the next six months.

NEW caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef, Ben Southall, officially started work yesterday.

The 34-year-old Briton who was named the winner of the Best Job in the World competition on May 7 spent his first day on the job settling into his new home - a three bedroom luxury ocean front villa on Hamilton Island called Blue Pearl.

Ben arrived with his Canadian girlfriend Breanna Watkins in what was her first visit to Australia.

The pair will now spend the next six months exploring the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef with Ben reporting on his experiences.
