Council is seeking information from the owners of residential properties, which is their principal place of residence within the Whitsunday area, in order to categorise properties correctly for the benefit of a lower differential general rate. Application forms are available from Council’s Customer Service Centres at 83-85 Main Street, Proserpine, 67 Herbert Street, Bowen, Cnr Stanley & Conway Streets Collinsville or from Council’s website www.whitsundayrc.qld.gov.au If your property is your principal place of residence, please complete the form and return it to the Council by the due date of the next rate notice. If you are already receiving the owner occupier benefit, you do not need to reapply. PENSIONER REMISSION ON RATES Persons in receipt of a pension, who qualify in accordance with Council’s Policy and/or the State Government’s Pensioner Rate Subsidy Scheme, are hereby requested to make application for the 2016/2017 year. Confirmation of your eligibility will be sought from the Department of Communities and Department of Veteran Affairs. RATING CONCESSION – GRANNY FLATS A concession for service charges can be granted to residential properties that consist of a dwelling and a granny flat. Property owners whose property includes not only their principal place of residence, but also accommodation in the form of one (1) granny flat may wish to apply for this concession. For the 2016/17 financial year, Council may grant a concession on the water, sewerage and garbage charges that are levied for the property.
