MMD Australia is a national provider of engineering services and mineral sizing technology, with offices in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas. Our company designs and manufactures material processing equipment used in many types of surface and underground mining operations all over the world, including Mineral Sizers, Apron Plate Feeders, Fully and Semi-Mobile Sizer Stations.

MMD Australia is currently seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to be primarily based in our Mackay facility, managing sales in Queensland, PNG and New Caledonia as and when required.

Reporting to the National Sales Director, you will be responsible for representing the company in selling its industrial goods and services to industrial, business and professional clients. The successful applicant will be a self-confident professional who can work closely with consultants and end users. Travel to mine sites, consultants and end user offices to interact with clients will also form part of the duties, as well as to take an active role in growing the business through the development of new and existing contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Displaying a sound understanding of surface and underground mining operations, mineral sizing equipment, application of equipment and relevant industry standards
• Compiling prospective client lists through research, directories, and other internal resources
• Acquiring and updating knowledge of the company's and main competitor's machines and services, as well as current market conditions
• Assessing client project requirements as well as providing product and service recommendations
• Preparation of tenders and service proposals, negotiating prices, credit and payment terms, and assisting in completion of contracts
• Arranging for the delivery and implementation of products and services
• Reporting to management on sales of the company's products and services
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, colleagues and managers of the company
• Extensive travel of 30 – 40% to visit and support current and future clients.
• This position has no direct reports but works with the broader team to meet deadlines and to ensure completion of project requirements.

Competencies :
Essential
• Proven successful track record in sales in heavy plant manufacturing or mining sector
• Customer focused with excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to consult, analyse data and assess equipment needs and determine system requirements
• Experience in preparing tenders and skilled in delivering technical presentations
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
• Strong technical understanding and product knowledge (or ability to acquire) in a similar industry
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to positively contribute to the strategic objectives and company values
• Adheres to the company health, safety, environment and quality policies
• Proficient with the relevant Microsoft Office products
• A full driving licence.

Desirable
• Well connected with clients in the mining industry (process and materials handling) in Coal would be viewed favourably
• Potential to develop management skills
• Proficient with contemporary drawing/design software
• Qualifications in an engineering discipline is desirable as the position requires the ability to acquire a sound understanding of technical data and drawings.
