BIRTHDAY WISHES: Meals on wheels staff celebrate 52 years in action. Contributed.

MEALS on Wheels Rockhampton recently celebrated 52 years of service within the region with a gathering of Volunteers, Staff and Committee Members. Meals on Wheels Inc. commenced its first deliveries on the May 10 1965 at which time the service was providing meals to 12 clients daily.

Over the subsequent years the service has grown to the point where we currently provide an average of 200 - 250 meals daily to eligible clients. The service relies on the generous support of volunteers in the preparation and delivery of meals.

The Volunteers commitment and strong community spirit is what allows Meals on Wheels to continue serving the aged, disabled and sick with nutritious meals in their own homes; providing a daily line of communication to the outside world; and a touch of human kindness and allowing them to retain their independence. To volunteer, phone 4928 0540.
