IS supporter brutally attacks ex-digger in Kempsey prison
THE NSW public service union has called on the NSW Government to address prison overcrowding after an ex-soldier was left fighting for his life following a brutal attack.
The former soldier and an 18-year-old man alleged to be an Islamic State supporter got into a fight in a Kempsey prison cell last week.
During the fight the young man allegedly carved an IS slogan into the man's head.
The Public Service Association said the brutal attack had "horrified" workers and continued to call for work to stop overcrowding in jails.
The alleged attacker has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
