HER six children already considered her mother of the year and yesterday Barnados confirmed it.

Tannum Sands mum Charmaine Mann was yesterday announced as winner of Barnados’ Queensland Mother of the Year.

Nominated by her two daughters Emma and Larrena who described their mum as “a miracle worker,” the local mum was blown away by her win.

Ms Mann said she was “just a mum” and was honoured to have even been shortlisted.

On hearing her name called as the winner she just cried.

“I just cried and cried and cried. And my daughters cried and cried and cried,” she said.

“It’s unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable – I just didn’t think it would be me.

“There are so many amazing mums out there doing incredible work and I feel very privileged to have been chosen to represent Queensland.”

As well as raising her own children, Ms Mann also opened her doors and heart to any child who needed a place to stay.

Ms Mann will now attend the national gala dinner in Sydney on May 6, along with the other seven state and territory finalists where one of them will be named the Barnardos’ Australia’s Mother of the Year 2010.
