A ball for a cause
IT'S time to mark that calendar and book a night of fine dining to raise funds for a good cause.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club (SICYC) have come together to create a Gala Ball to "make a difference" at Lure, Abell Point Marina (APM).
Manager of APM, Luke McCaul, said the event next month would focus on prostate cancer and raising funds.
"It's a chance for us to acknowledge the (SICYC's) great (rendezvous) event," he said.
"We'll also get to acknowledge the business who have really put money towards the SICYC over the past three or four years.
"Ken Thackeray (Founder of Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club) will recognise all businesses who have supported the cause and have raised money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation."
The official theme of the night is sure to make heads turn, with guys encouraged to dress in black ties and board shorts and the gals in sea princess attire.
Mr McCaul said attendees would find themselves surrounded by stunning views and enjoying great food.
Guests will be greeted with a drink upon arrival before being seated for a three-course dinner.
For the evening's entertainment, an opera singer will also be present.
Distinguished Professor Judith Clements AC will be in attendance to discuss the latest research and developments on prostate cancer.
There will be plenty of chances to win prizes on the night with auctions and giveaways galore.
Anyone is welcome to attend the event but Mr McCaul said those interested would need to hurry as tickets were selling fast.
"The venue seats about 120 or 130 guests and we've already had almost half the tickets sold," he said.
"For anyone who wants to come, it's a great opportunity to have a high class night with great food in a great venue, and it's definitely a bit of a twist with the theme we've chosen.
"And you can meet some local businesses that are supporting the prostate ball."
