A contemporary dance on stage
CONTEMPORARY dance company Dancenorth is inviting audiences to celebrate our individual differences and to ask the question: What is unique about us?
The Townsville based company will present the work 'If_was_' at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre this Thursday.
Explore the fanciful world down the rabbit hole of imagination of the two choreographers responsible for the production, Stephanie Lake and Ross McCormack.
'If_was_' is both an investigation into choreographic practice and a sensory representation of each artist's personal library of lived experience generated in response to a strict framework of equal limitations.
The new work by Dancenorth has been set as a challenge by artistic director Kyle Page, which is an extension of the overall theme of the work.
By limiting the selection of sound from one sound score, creating costumes from one pattern and utilising lighting from one design, Mr Page invites producers of the work to add that extra something to provide that point of difference.
It is within these parameters that 'If_was_' comes to life.
If you are after something a bit arty and intellectual this is the show for you.
