Woman smears lubricant on walls in domestic dispute

A DOMESTIC dispute between a Gladstone couple got gooey when a woman vandalised her former partner's bedroom with petroleum jelly.

Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said police were called to a home on May 23 only to find "a clear gooey substance" smeared over the bedroom walls.

An empty petroleum jelly container was found on the floor.

The woman, who appeared in custody after being arrested by warrant, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to contravention of an apprehended violence order.

Defence lawyer Jun Pepito said the woman became angry after attending the house to pick up some children who were not there.

He said she become mad and after seeing a tub of petroleum jelly had smeared its contents on the walls.

Magistrate Penelope Hay said the woman had a history of contravening the order, which suggested she did not understand how serious it was.

"It is your last opportunity. If you come back before me I will consider a term of imprisonment," she said.

"You do not control or own any other person. If they decide to see other people that is their right.

"I appreciate that there can be frustrations. It sets a bad example to the children.

"You have no right to enter someone else's house."

Ms Hay placed the woman on a six-month supervised probation order and said she must undergo anger management counselling.
