A few cents can support seniors
OUR seniors made this town what it is today and now they need our support.
The Proserpine Branch of the Australian Pensioners and Superannuants League cent sale is set to be sensational fun, with plenty of bargains on offer.
President Marie Fraser said there were a whole bunch of brilliant prizes up for grabs, donated by local businesses and club members.
The event also marks a special occasion, celebrating the 49th birthday of the Proserpine Branch.
"So it's combining the club's birthday with the cent sale,” Ms Fraser said.
At just $15 for a great day of entertainment, this certainly is an affordable way to have a wonderful time.
"And they get morning tea and lunch with that,” Ms Fraser said.
While the cent sale is set to take centre stage, Ms Fraser said there would also be a raffle and live entertainment by band Whits Ends to keep the fun going.
The money raised on the day will go towards keeping our seniors active and out in the community, with bus trips to Mackay and Bowen on the agenda. Ms Fraser said the trips were a good way to get members out of the house and having fun with friends. The whole community is encouraged to come along and support our seniors, with Ms Fraser saying they were also on the lookout for new members.
"A lot of people are self-retirees and they think they can't come along because they're not on a pension, but they're welcome to come,” she said.
The group hosts a number of small cent sales within the club throughout the year and plays hoy at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre from 1pm until before 4pm each Tuesday.
