A magnificent remake

A REMAKE of a classic film will hit the screens at Proserpine Entertainment Centre this week.

The Magnificent Seven is the remake of the 1960 western of the same name, which is also a remake of classic Japanese film Seven Samurai.

The film sees the small town of Rose Creek under the control of a rich industrialist who is forcing the residents to leave their homes and livelihoods.

The residents set out to hire some help and claim back what's theirs.

Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt lead an all star cast as the seven mercenaries try to prepare the town for the upcoming violent showdown.

They know they are fighting for much more than money.

Made with polish and a rousing score, it's a film worth seeing on the big screen, largely due to the thrilling, climactic finale when bullets, arrows and knives find their marks with precision and great frequency.

Director Antoine Fuqua delivers a stylish, handsome western that you don't want to miss.
