Adopt a family this Christmas

EACH year the Whitsunday Times runs the adopt-a-family appeal.

The campaign will kick off again this year and we are calling on Whitsunday people and businesses to dig deep and help support those who are doing it tough this Christmas.

For those who would like to do something a little different, how about helping out a needy Whitsunday family by putting a Christmas hamper together stocked with toys and gifts or even non-perishable food that would put huge smiles on the faces of those struggling families?

The Whitsunday Times has had a great response in previous years to the adopt-a-family appeal where 87 families were helped last year alone.

Whitsunday Times managing editor Leanne Abernethy said the newspaper was proud to be associated with the appeal and pleased to be able to help people at Christmas.

You can participate either as a community organisation or you can put together a hamper for one of the families.

We will kick off the appeal next Thursday, November 4, with a list of organisations and a list of families for you to adopt.

To be involved in our adopt-a-family campaign, please call Mandy Patterson at the Whitsunday Times on 4940 2103.
