NASA's Juno enters Jupiter's orbit after five years
AFTER a five-year journey covering almost three billion kilometres, NASA's Juno spacecraft entered the orbit of Jupiter yesterday.
Scientists say Juno will orbit Jupiter 37 times over the next 20 months before it fails and plummets into the planet's atmosphere.
The probe will photograph the planet and measure its gravitational and magnetic fields.
The solar system's largest planet, Jupiter is 300 times the size of Earth and has four large moons and more than 60 small ones.
Juno has travelled further from Earth than any other solar-powered spacecraft.
