Airlie ready for fireworks

FIREWORKS will light up the sky on New Year's Eve in Airlie Beach with two displays planned at 9pm and again at midnight on the Airlie Beach foreshore.

The fireworks on the foreshore at Airlie Beach are always popular with families and friends and are organised by the Reef Festival committee and funded by donations from local businesses.

Committee chairperson Margie Murphy said it would be a great night out and the perfect way to bring in the New Year.

"It should be a great atmosphere down in Airlie and the Reef Festival will be selling glow sticks from Airlie Point near the central car park on the main street," she said.
