Airport goes to a vote
Whitsunday Regional Council have gone into the confidential section of a special meeting to discuss a shortlist of applicants for the Whitsunday Coast airport's expression of interest process.
In the open section of the meeting CEO Scott Waters said there was a shortlist of four applicants.
The idea is for council to partner with private enterprise to develop the airport into an international export hub with council retaining a 51% majority share.
Outside the council chambers, a crowd of about 20 people are currently protesting. They arrived at the council meeting bearing placards, which they were asked to leave outside.
