All the fun of the fair at show
TOMORROW, June 19, it's show time.
Just one day out from the opening of Show Whitsunday and the pavilion is being packed with art, horses and cattle are being groomed, axes honed, cane cut and the rides prepped for the biggest two days in the Whitsundays' entertainment calendar.
Now in its 103rd year, Proserpine Agricultural, Pastoral and Industrial Association president Donna Rogers said the show had a long history of giving local families the chance to simply have a good time.
"I don't think that's changed," she said.
"The emphasis is still on providing a weekend where families can come and enjoy themselves together."
This year's show is certainly set to be a great weekend of fun, with everything from sideshow alley to showbags on offer.
There's more to the show than just a great time with great company, however.
"It's also a showcase of some of the talented people we have in the area," Ms Rogers said. "Whether that is in the equestrian events, all the cattle and cane producers who win so many accolades, or just the local mother and daughter who enjoy baking together."
This year's show will include all the family favourites - cattle, equestrian, poultry, woodchopping, rides, showbags, arts, crafts, machinery, cane cutting and much, much more.
"And then there's always the bar," Ms Rogers added.
