Ambassadors are worthy recipients

CRUISE Ship Volunteer Ambassadors have received a generous donation of $1325 from Cannonvale Marine.

Coordinator Brian Richardson said the money came at a good time as the volunteers prepare for a solid month of cruise ship arrivals.

The money was the result of a revamped dinghy (with the help of Enviroblast and TK's Body Repairs) that was auctioned at the store's boat show and open day in July.

The dinghy went for $3000 - the Proserpine Whitsunday Junior Rugby League Football Club also received $1325 and $350 went to the Proserpine Nursing Home for a chicken coup.

"We didn't do it for the reward, we're just mindful of the organisations working for the benefit of the community," Cannonvale Marine's owner Darrell Hinschen said.

Yesterday the volunteers received their first cruise ship of the month.

The Sun Princess brought 1985 passengers with 1837 coming ashore, 1671 going into town and 362 went on tours.

Next up for the ambassadors is a double whammy next Thursday when both Pacific Dawn and Pacific Jewel pull into Airlie Beach.
