Animal farm including alpacas now at Whitsunday resort

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort has added a unique Animal Park to its grounds in Airlie Beach.

The Animal Park provides over three acres for the animals to freely roam around and guests are able to enter the park and interact with them.

Animals include both young and adult alpacas, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and chickens.

The lambs, kids and piglets are hugely popular and every animal has a name to match their cheeky personality traits, which their carers love to share with guests of the resort.

From Candy the Mama Alpaca to Molly the Cow and Albert the Pig, guests of the resort can gain an authentic "hands-on" experience of farm animals and children delight in getting up close and personal with the friendly animals.

Albert the Pig has the largest personality and chickens Snowflake, Midnight and Ruby are friendly and love to be picked up.

Resort guests are able to actively hold, pat and feed these cute farm animals at scheduled times throughout the week.

"Many kids don't have any animals in their life and we wanted to create an old-fashioned animal park so young children could experience the joys of patting and feeding animals," Owner Greg McKinnon said.

"The carers are full of information about each animal and we are all very attached to the over 20 animals we treat just like family pets."
