Bell signs with Dragons

EIGHTEEN-year-old Airlie Beach product and former Proserpine Junior Rugby League player Andrew Bell was recently signed to a two-year contract with the St George-Illawarra Dragons.

Bell had serious reservations about continuing in rugby league three months ago when he learned he was in need of a shoulder reconstruction, but talks with his father and Dragons head coach Nathan Brown conviced the Airlie Beach product to take the next step in his rugby league career.

Bell began playing football at age six when local identity Tony Price introduced rugby league coaching at Cannonvale State Primary School. Andrew has been selected every year for North Queensland honours from under 12 to under 18 and Queensland at under 15.

Last year he represented the AIS/ARL on a three-week under 17 tour of Great Britain and France.
