Art with heart to combat bullying
LOCAL boy Daniel Neale has bagged first prize in an art competition.
Proserpine Youth Space and Stand for the Silent hosted a community event on National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence last Friday.
On the day, Daniel won first place in the youth art competition for his piece Cityscape featuring No Bullying Street.
The nationwide movement is Australia's key anti-bullying event enabling schools, organisations and communities to join together to take a stand against bullying.
Held annually, the day aims to strengthen everyday messages that bullying and violence is never okay.
This year's theme was: Imagine a world free from bullying.
The Proserpine activities centred on this theme and the region's youth responded positively.
A sausage sizzle, guest speakers and information desk focussed on the topic were all part of the event's festivities.
Youth Space assistant co-ordinator Christie Malcolm was happy with the level of support received.
"We were pleased with the turnout of community members in terms of participation to observe and support this important National Day of Action. We are grateful to all sponsors that assisted in making this event such a success in our community,” she said.
