Artists to create in different sceneries

ART enthusiasts gathered at Cannonvale Beach on Tuesday morning to simply paint away the daily stresses of life.

Whitsunday artists, The Heartists, received a grant from Active in Parks, a program that encourages Australians to step outside.

The grant was used to purchase several easels, sketchbooks and chairs.

About 10 people attended the beach on Tuesday to make use of the new products and Heartist Belinda Curry said they would now take to working outside on a Tuesday each fortnight at 10am.

"We encourage everyone to come along and will eventually move to different places. Many people, particularly elderly people, feel isolated in their homes. There's a social aspect to it not just an artistic one," she said.

Heartists are a group of local artists who aim to provide therapy through creativity, with many of the members suffering from a health condition.

The group will next meet on June 16, at Cannonvale Beach, at 10am.
