Astaire show has all the glitz

PREPARE for a mesmerising dancing and singing tribute to one of the most famous dancers of all time.

A Fine Romance - The Magic of Fred Astaire, performed by Joe Meldrum, Sage Douglas and pianist Dominic Woodhead is a show which never fails to pay due respect to the legendary artist.

The Australian artists from Adelaide and Melbourne have a rich background in theatre and performing arts which sets the bar high.

Leading man Joe Meldrum said he and leading woman Sage Douglas were always determined to provide their audience with an authentic experience.

"Sage and I have to be triple threats,” he said.

"We need to be strong singers, actors and dancers because (Fred) was a triple threat as well.”

The audience will be taken on a journey through Fred Astaire's early life, tracking his humble beginnings on the Broadway stage and progressing to his Hollywood success and on-screen romantic tales.

In light of the challenges presented from Cyclone Debbie, the presenters will offer free performances at Proserpine Nursing Home today at 11am and at Proserpine RSL tomorrow (Thursday) at 11am.
