Atkins, McDougall take win
WHITSUNDAY GOLF: Thirty-three Whitsunday golfers played a four-ball best ball ambrose last Sunday, with perfect golf conditions prevailing weatherwise.
A good field with wins spread throughout the membership.
Behaviour was exemplary, with nary a single golf club seen in flight.
Ritchie Atkins and Mark McDougall claimed the top spot, running home on 49.
A close second saw Brad Hammond and Anthony Whyte card 47.
While in third, Mick Caton and Dean Kercher teamed up to take 44.
The longest drives went to Rod Wecker in the men's A-grade, Mark McDougall in the B-grade, Anna Winterbourn for the 1-39 handicap and Linda Wardroper in the 40+ handicap.
Ron Jamieson claimed the all in nearest the pins on the ninth.
The men's A-grade pins went to Mick Caton on the second, while Brad Hammond scooped the B-grade, also on the second.
Tiina Randmae took home the nearest the pins in the 1-39 handicap on the second, while Anna Winterbourn was closest on the 16th.
Meanwhile, the 40+ handicap had Tessa Aitken claim the pins on the 16th.
Next week the Whitsunday golfers will play a Tiger Woods stableford, with tee-off from 7.15am.
