Aussie talent's latest album
MANY Australians would know the name Alex Lloyd.
A talented singer- songwriter, Lloyd began his roller-coaster ride to success in 1997 with the EP Black The Sun.
Nearly 20 years later and Lloyd is still on top of the game.
Having enjoyed critical acclaim for his five albums released between 1999 and 2008, special mention must go to his breakthrough work Watching Angels Mend, which featured the iconic track Amazing.
This album has sold more than 280,000 copes, being the most successful Australian album release of 2002.
But Lloyd certainly hasn't been resting on his laurels, with four more albums hitting the airwaves since what has become known as the 'Amazing period'.
Add to this his co-writing role for the soundtrack for award-winning film Mad Bastards and it isn't hard to see why Lloyd is still living life as a star.
His latest offering, Acoustica, isn't an exception to this rule, having already received high praise.
Here in Airlie Beach we're in for a treat, with Magnums Hotel set to host the second performance in Lloyd's Acoustica release tour - a rare opportunity outside our major cities.
Featuring 12 stunningly reworked classic tunes spanning the career of the ARIA-winning and multi-platinum performer, Acoustica will excite anyone with a love of music.
"It was certainly something I'd thought of doing before,” he said of the recording.
With four ARIAs to his name, Lloyd said the idea of revisiting his older material had always been intriguing.
"This project came along at the perfect time for me,” Lloyd said.
"Doing these recordings really helped create a spark in me. It's been great to re-address these songs, and I'm really happy how it's turned out.”
To celebrate the release of this latest creation, Lloyd has put together an intimate version of his band to bring new life to these wonderful interpretations.
So for old fans of Alex Lloyd and even those who had never heard of him before now, this is a show that really shouldn't be missed.
