Aussies killed in crash in Alaska
TWO Queenslanders were killed in a plane crash in Alaska late on Wednesday night.
The pair, a 64-year-old man and 60-year-old woman, was flying from Fort Yukon to Fairbanks in Alaska when the plane they were travelling went off radar at 5pm.
Various media outlets reported the man was pilot Stephen Knight and the woman Gillian Knight, but the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade did not confirm their identities on Friday.
A DFAT spokesman said Alaskan authorities had confirmed there were no survivors.
He said the department was saddened by the deaths, and consular officials were helping the families of the pair.
The Alaska Dispatch reported the plane's pilot was moving from visual to instrumental navigation when it went "off radar"
The United States National Transport Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
