THE Australian showbiz world is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Judith McGrath.

Ms McGrath, best known for her Logie nominated role as Yvonne 'Von' Ryan in television medical drama, All Saints, was 70.

Industry stakeholders and fans all paid tribute to the late performer following a report from TV Tonight on Sunday evening.

"Her wonderfully dry wit was peerless. Vale is not enough," entertainment reporter Craig Bennett wrote on Facebook.

The endeared actor most recently appeared on Australian television screens as Maria Crawley in Winners & Losers.

Born in Brisbane, Ms McGrath appeared in a total of 263 episodes of Prisoner from 1979 and played Bernice Hudson on A Country Practice. But it was her longstanding run on All Saints that was perhaps most memorable.

She was the only original castmate to star across all 12 seasons of the popular soap, which also featured two-time gold Logie winner Georgie Parker.

Ms McGrath's management and family had not commented on the loss or cause of death on Sunday.
