Backing the iconic Whitsunday brand
HOW to give Whitsunday events the best chance of success was the focus of a marketing bootcamp hosted by Tourism Whitsundays on Monday.
Krista Hauritz was the guest speaker at the event which was attended by Reef Festival, Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Tourism Bowen and Airlie Beach Festival of Running committee members.
Ms Hauritz encouraged event promoters to take advantage of the Whitsundays as an internationally established brand with a view to maximising patronage at their events by piggy-backing off an already successful brand.
She detailed graphic design ideas, social media marketing, advertising and multi-media promotion of events in the Whitsundays.
Tourism Whitsundays CEO Craig Turner said it was great to see so many people at the bootcamp, which was held in conjunction with Tourism and Events Queensland.
"Events are very important to the Whitsundays in terms of driving visitation to the region, which in turn generates increased economic activity,” he said.
"Planning and preparation are vital for a successful event.
"We are very lucky to have such a strong Whitsundays brand that event organisers can leverage off, with our iconic attractions and hero experiences instantly recognisable throughout Australia and the world.”
Chairwoman of the Whitsunday Reef Festival, Margie Murphy, was at the Proserpine event.
She said she was "inspired” by the information she had taken on board.
Ms Murphy said information was valuable in helping to improve the future success of events like the Whitsunday Reef Festival.
