Bait to Plate is a foodies blessing
THE Whitsundays are renowned for their fresh, locally-caught seafood and now both visitors and residents can go on a seafood "culinary journey", thanks to local seafood restaurant Fish D'Vine.
"Bait to Plate" is a "celebration of seafood" and returns to this year's Whitsunday Reef Festival on Sunday, August 7, having been a huge success at last year's festival.
The four-hour gastronomic experience lets diners learn the secrets of the region's famous fish varieties, while feasting on a seven-course lunch of wonderful local fish with matching wines.
A great rum cocktail or two, from the restaurant's award-winning Rum Bar, are also part of the fun.
"Diners can learn how, when and where the fish are caught, and how to handle, prepare and cook them, while at the same time enjoying a delectable lunch," Fish D'Vine owner Kevin Collins said.
"The interactive lunch gives those wanting an 'up close and personal' experience an opportunity to work side-by-side with the chefs and fish mongers, or guests can just kick back and enjoy the seafood showcase of the Whitsundays on a plate - it's up to each person how involved they get but whatever their preference, the food will be sensational."
Tickets are $69 each and bookings are essential.
