Bald Eagles ready for big year
MASTERS AFL
MEMBERS of the Whitsunday Bald Eagles AFL masters team came together for their annual general meeting at the Reef Gateway Hotel on Sunday morning.
A strong turn-out of around 25 players and their partners turned up for the meeting where the club laid out their plans for the 2013 season and discussed a number of trips they have planned.
Bald Eagles president Jack Lumby said it will be a massive year for the club with a number of trips away and the hosting of the annual Whitsunday 12s carnival over Easter.
"We have a big year ahead of us with trips planned to Bali and Thailand to play in Masters AFL competitions. There are also the nationals being held in Darwin in October and there is an exciting new format for the Whitsunday 12s this year," he said.
The Baldies had their first training session last Thursday night and all players aged 35 and over are welcome to come along to the Whitsunday Sports Park every week to get involved with this close-knit playing and social group.
They are also looking at holding every second training session in Proserpine to benefit the large number of Proserpine-based players in the team.
