Much-loved family pet Bella is missing

KEVIN Jewell's son Konna grew up with Bella but now his little dog is gone.

Bella is a mini fox terrier-cross and a local identity in Proserpine.

Mr Jewell said the dog was very unusual, covered in 100 white dots and the most beautiful dog he had ever seen.

For four and-a-half years little Bella was a loving family pet and a town icon.

Mr Jewell said while Konna was at school he would take Bella to work with him at Singo's Second Hand Furniture in Proserpine's Main Street.

He said everyone who came into the shop just wanted to pat Bella and everyone loved her.

Bella has been missing for eight weeks now and perhaps didn't have a collar tag listing her owner's phone number when she went missing.

Eight weeks ago Bella was at the furniture shop as usual when a friend of Mr Jewell's came into the shop with two other dogs.

Bella, while Mr Jewell was distracted, took off in pursuit of the visiting dogs.

Bella was last seen running in the direction of the IGA in Mill St.

The lost dog's picture has been up on a Facebook page since her disappearance but no one has reported any sightings yet.

Mr Jewell said he had contacted the Whitsunday Regional Council but they did not have his beloved pet.

Consequently he has just had water proofed posters made, which he plans to post around Proserpine this week.

Mr Jewell has many questions about Bella's disappearance and is also very concerned about how the missing dog is affecting his now 17-year-old son.

"Konner is very upset. You know what it's like to have a dog and it disappears," he said.

"My son has grown up with this dog since he was 13."

Mr Jewell has offered a $200 reward for information leading to the return of Bella.
