Blue Care benefits from golf day
BLUE Care Proserpine Community Care received $2531.63 from last year's Ron Drew Charity Golf Day.
Proserpine Golf Club representative Kelvin Stephens presented the cheque to Fiona Beveridge of Blue Care in support of the organisation's outstanding contribution to the local community.
Blue Care Proserpine Community Care is a not-for-profit organisation.
They provide health care to the elderly and people with disabilities by helping them to maintain a quality of life and independence when they can no longer manage on their own.
Ms Beveridge said the money would be put towards buying new equipment for their palliative care patients.
The Ron Drew Charity Golf Day was held in October last year with more than 60 golfers registering to play on the day.
Kelli Matthews, who was a member of the Whitsunday Regional Council golf team, said the event was very successful with the highest amount raised to date.
The Ron Drew Charity Golf Day was established in 2007 when Mr Drew passed away.
Each year since, businesses have participated and contributed towards sponsorship and prizes on the day.
Ron Drew (1947-2007) served the Whitsundays for more than 23 years with the majority of his time as Council's building inspector.
He was well known as a result of his profession and participation in local sporting clubs.
