Blue Nurses benefit from charity golf day
NOTHING kicks off the new year like a generous donation, and that's just how 2015 started for Proserpine Blue Care.
The service recently received the proceeds of the 2014 Ron Drew Charity Golf Day which was held in October last year.
The golf day raised a total of $2610.29, which was the biggest amount to date, thanks to more than 100 players taking part.
For the past eight years the Whitsunday Regional Council has held the charity day in honour of former building certifier Ron Drew, who died in 2007 after a battle with cancer. During this time, Mr Drew was cared for by the Proserpine Blue Nurses - the beneficiary of the charity drive.
The Ron Drew Charity Golf Day strives to raise funds to allow the Proserpine Blue Nurses to continue with their services which include palliative, respite, pastoral, nursing and personal care as well as education, dementia management, domestic assistance, wound management and veterans' home care.
