Blues win Kerry Hall Memorial golf comp
Forty-two Whitsunday golfers took the course on Sunday to honour the long-term president who died last year.
Mr Hall's partner Frani Aleman travelled from Townsville to make the presentation to the winning Blue Team, which won six games to the Red team's three (one game was drawn).
The overall score was 26-16 in favour of the Blue team, who shared prizes donated by the Reef Gateway Hotel, where Mr Hall was a long-term employee.
The Kerry Hall Memorial was known as the President's Cup before club members decided to rename the event in honour of Mr Hall.
A club competition was held in conjunction with the KHM, with excellent scores taking out the winning positions.
The duo of Pauline Redpath and Scotty Wardroper won the day, carding 92 points to finish clear of Mal Carter and Peter Browning (85).
Geoff Harrison and Wilf Herweg (84) rounded out the top three. The longest drive titles went to Kym Hill (A-grade), Mal Carter (B-grade), Pam Casey and Annie Kercher (ladies) respectively, while Geoff Harrison (no. 9), Danny York (13 and 16), Brendon Meharry (2), Mal Carter (2), Brad Hammond (16), Annie Kercher (2) and Linda Wardroper (16) won nearest-the-pin flags.
The WFX Kevin Mills Encouragement Award went to Ron Jamieson as consolation for his Red team's loss to Reg Kercher's Blue team in the Kerry Hall Memorial.
This Sunday the first round of the Club Championships will be held at Proserpine Golf Club.
The second round will be held on Sunday, November 8.
