THE Proserpine BMX Club will put the pedal to the metal for a good cause this weekend.
The club will host a meet on Saturday at Les Stagg Oval, with all monies raised going towards a cancer fund.
Cranking for Cancer will start at 1pm, with riders from Townsville, the Burdekin, Moranbah, Rockhampton and Mackay set to join.
"Our riders are very excited, especially being on their home track," Proserpine BMX Club secretary Sharon Jenkinson said.
In other news, the club recently returned outstanding results from the State Title Championships in Brisbane.
Seventeen Proserpine riders took part in the three-day event at the Sleemans Sports Centre, toughing it out against the best in the state.
Five riders excelled to bring home Queensland plates - a phenomenal effort from a regional club against the might of Queensland's cities.
Byron Chauntler won a Q7 plate in the under-11 boys, Taylor Kerr a Q6 plate in the under-14 girls and Vernon Dries claimed Q6 plates in the 50+ 20 inch and cruiser divisions.
Kira Allan and Peter Little dominated their junior elite classes, winning Q2 and Q5 plates respectively.
Toby and Kaleb Jenkinson, Isabella Allan, Madison and Kaelan Gough, Anthony Pendlebury, Macaulay Munroe, Chloe Chauntler and Corey Smith also performed strongly at the titles in September.
"The Proserpine BMX Club is very proud of all our riders," Jenkinson said.
The Proserpine BMX Club trains on Mondays from 5.30pm and races on Friday from 6pm.
