Body washes up on Marcus Beach
A BODY has washed up on Marcus Beach not far from where a man went missing in rough surf on Sunday afternoon.
The body was discovered today about 5.20am.
Is is believed to be that of the 37-year-old father of two, who has been missing in surf since Sunday.
The man, of Gordon Park, was on a day trip with his wife and seven-month-old child when he went for a final swim of the day at an unpatrolled Peregian Beach before the drive home.
His wife reported him missing 30 minutes later when he failed to return.
It sparked a massive search involving Surf Lifesavers, the Water Police and the Coast Guard and several helicopters.
Queensland Police Service in a statement this morning wrote that although formal identification has yet to occur, the family of the missing man has been advised of the discovery.
