Bogans almost ready to raise dust
THE Car 66 Bogans are all signed up for the Great Endeavour Rally - literally.
The iconic blue HR has had a make over with its sponsorship signage ahead of the fundraising race in July.
The race raises funds for the Endeavour Foundation which provides opportunities for people with disability.
The signage and labour, approximately $2500 worth, was donated free of charge by local company Angel Signs.
"It's a good cause and it's enjoyable to do," Angel Signs owner Jay Angel said.
"I've done flags and all that kind of stuff for them as well."
Car 66 Bogan Rob 'RobBob' Wilson said the donation was hugely appreciated.
"All the money we raise out of the raffles and donations, that goes directly to the Endeavour Foundation," he said.
"So having it done for nothing is awesome and it's come up a treat too."
Mr Wilson said Mr Angel had had no reservations about helping out.
"I came down here and saw them and they jumped onboard more than willingly," he said.
Mr Angel said it was a good business decision, as well as a kind hearted one as he would "get a bit of advertising out of it as well, especially because this trip comes to Airlie Beach".
The car will be cruising the streets of the Whitsundays for the next few months, showing off its new look.
"You won't be able to help but notice us, it's not just the blue HR anymore," Mr Wilson said.
The car will then head down to Gympie, where the car's owners are based, to be outfitted with even more signage.
"When the car goes back [to Gympie] there's going to be signage on the roof racks and that'll advertise the guys from Gympie," Mr Wilson said.
Donations have now reached more than $12,500 thanks to the hard work of the Bogans team, "raising dust and dollars" for a good cause.
