BoM issues flood alert for parts of Queensland

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Flood Watch alert for central Queensland.

On Saturday there is a 30% chance of rain near the coast.

Coming into Sunday that chance will increase to 80% with falls most likely in the morning and afternoon.

Heavy falls are possible reaching a maximum of 40mm and there is also a chance of a thunder storm according to the BoM.

River level rises above the minor flood level are possible and heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and creeks should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

The next Flood Watch is due to be issued at 12pm tomorrow.
