Book fair still educating young and old alike

IT'S ON again and this year the Proserpine Museum Book Bonanza is sure to delight readers from all age groups.

Secretary of the Proserpine Historical Museum Society Gay Gillies said there would be thousands of books available to buy and every possible interest would be catered for at competitive prices.

There will be raffles and even a trash and treasure sale at the 21st annual Proserpine Museum Book Bonanza.

The Proserpine Museum is a self-funded community organisation and relies on the annual Book Bonanza to fund the organisation in the year ahead.

Ms Gillies said if you could read it, you could find it at the museum bonanza beginning on May 6.

"We have children's books for young readers and will have books for older people and Mills and Boon style books and history books, hobbies, arts and craft and recipe books,” she said.

Also a good selection of humour and Australiana will be on offer and you can buy paperbacks by the box.

Ms Gillies said many books were donated to the museum throughout the year and some books were also sourced from libraries that had updated their collection and no longer needed old volumes.

For about 13 years, Ms Gillies has been a volunteer at the Proserpine Museum.

She described it as "an interesting interest” and said she loved to share her knowledge of Proserpine with visitors. Membership of $7 to the society allows members unlimited access to the museum.
