Bowen’s super boat weekend

THE Superboats are back in Bowen this weekend and its sure to be a couple days of activities for everyone.

With the markets open for business from 11am Saturday, fans have plenty of time to enjoy the fare on offer before the tugboat water display at the foreshore at 12.30pm.

This will be followed by the racing, with first pole position at 1pm, followed by the second at 1.25pm.

Jetpack adventures will be back and will put on an awesome display at the front beach from 2pm before the 4TO Street Festival.

From 6-10pm Herbert St to Powell St will close, with market stalls, food stalls, Superboats on display and live music playing to keep you entertained.

This is your chance to get up close and personal with the boat crews, and marvel at the size and power of these boats.

The festivities will kick off again early on Sunday, with the markets on from 8.30am and featuring food stalls for breakfast - including bacon and egg burgers, Mexican food, kebabs and fresh coffee.

Join Bowen PCYC at the Bowen Jetty and enjoy the action as close as you can possibly get. Be prepared for the occasional sea spray from the Superboats as they roar past in Race 1 from 11am.

The first race will be followed by another display of aerial antics from the Jetpack Adventure Crew.

The final race of the round will be held from 1pm, with presentations to be held following another Jetpack Adventure display from 3.30pm at the North Queensland Yacht Club.

Sit back and join the crews, who kick their heels up to enjoy the celebrations that mark the end of round one of the Superboat Championships.
