THE Whitsunday PCYC has a new boxing ring – thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

Former boxer, Henk Plug, made the presentation at the Reef Gateway Hotel on Sunday.

Mr Plug told the crowd the two fight nights held at the PCYC over the past 12 months had been a tremendous success.

He said he was pleased to now be able to hand over the new ring and trailer to the PCYC to benefit local kids.

Mr Plug said it was only through the generosity of local businesses that this could be done.

The ring and trailer combined are worth about $27,000.

PCYC President, Bob Bogie, thanked Mr Plug for his time and effort and said he had done a tremendous amount of work to make this happen.
