Boy killed after towing strap snaps

A TEENAGER has died in a freak accident in Hervey Bay bushland.

The 14-year-old was hit in the head with a large metal hook just after 7pm.

Rescue teams worked for hours to get to the scene.

The boy’s body was recovered about 11pm.

His parents are well known in the Hervey Bay community.

Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
